The Tavistock Clinic Foundation shares the fundamental aims of The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, which are to highlight the importance of relationships from the earliest years throughout all our lives, and to stress the profound impact relationships have on our mental health and general well-being.

Here at the Tavistock Clinic Foundation we focus on funding studies that increase our understanding of the impact of relationships on human development and those that show the benefits of psychological therapy. We support innovative approaches to improving mental health and preventing ill-health. We help the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust to provide services to those in need, and to train high quality therapists for public services throughout the UK and beyond.

The Tavistock Clinic Foundation was established in 1982 to support the work of the Tavistock Clinic, which was founded in 1920 to promote access to psychological therapies.
